REISE-IMPRESSIONEN IMPRESSIONS OF JOURNEYS
Does an impressionistic way of painting seem to appear outdated, even worn out, to an artist at the end of the 20th century? Not at all! Because especially these days that are marked by stress and disturbance, that refuse many people the feeling of contentment, mankind jearns more and more for idyll, peace and relaxation and also impressionism. These works reflect the most varied wishes of people that the observer feels to be his own longing of experiencing the illustrated moments as though experienced by himself. Just by selecting the themes for the paintings, that are doubtlessy to be seen under the influence of French impressionists, the artist enables the observer to have easy access to his paintings. Anyone who lets his eyes wander over these works can absorb the vivacity they express. The heart opens up: Isn´t that the dreamly lane in our holiday resort? Doesn`t it seem as if the sunbeams, that give these paintings the wonderful Southern light, flow into the room. Everyone feels reminded of warmth, peace and perhaps an idyll never experienced. Responsible for this impression may be the sesitive colourings and the artist`s very own technique used for his paintings.The spontaneous impression is captured and finds the finished painting`s significance only through the eye of the observer.
Erscheint eine Darstellungsweise, die dem Imressionismus nahesteht für einen Künstler im ausgehenden 20. Jahrhundert nicht gar veraltet, verbraucht? Mitnichten! Denn wohl gerade in der heutigen Zeit, die geprägt durch Streß und Unruhe, vielen Menschen das Gefühl der Zufriedenheit verwehrt, sehnt sich der Mensch stärker nach Idylle, Ruhe und Erholung, also nach Impressionismus. Diese Werke spiegeln die unterschiedlichsten Wünsche der Menschen in der Art wider, daß der Betrachter seine eigene Sehnsucht spürt, die dargestellten Momente als selbst erlebt empfindet. Allein die Wahl der Bildthemen, die zweifelsohne unter dem Einfluß der französischen Impressionisten zu sehen sind, ermöglicht der Künstler dem Betrachter einen leichten Zugang zu seinen Bildern. Die Lebendigkeit, die sie ausdrücken, vermag jeder in sich aufzunehmen, der seine Augen über diese Werke wandern läßt. Das Herz öffnet sich: Ist das nicht die verträumte Gasse in unserem Urlaubsort? Scheint es nicht so, als würden die Sonnenstrahlen, die dieses wunderbar südliche Licht in die Bilder bringt, in den Raum fluten? Jeder fühlt sich erinnert, an Wärme, Ruhe und ein vielleicht nie erlebtes Idyll. Verantwortlich für diesen Eindruck mag die sensible Farbgebung und die eigene Maltechnik sein, die der Künstler für seine Bilder nutzt. Der spontane Eindruck, die Impression, wird fest- gehalten und findet im vollendeten Bild erst durch den Betrachter zu seiner Bedeutung. T.W.

Already since early childhood interested in drawing and painting this inclimation determind his professional path. An apprentice- ship as a lithographer was followed by a few semesters of grafic design at the then „Werkkunstschule“ in Hildesheim/Germany under Professor Paul König. Next to his professional activity in the packaging industry he is searching for a creative balance; an artistic way to his inner self.
